Find out if you’re invited to apply

2024 intake

Starting May 21, 2024, we’ll randomly invite potential sponsors who submitted an interest to sponsor form in 2020 to apply for the 2024 intake.

We’ll send 35,700 invitations over the course of approximately 2 weeks. Our goal is to accept up to 20,500 complete applications.

If you’re invited to apply

We’ll send your invitation to the email address you put on your 2020 interest to sponsor form.

Check your invitation status

We’ll post the “Check your invitation status” tool on this page on May 31, 2024. You’ll be able to use your confirmation number (the one you received when you submitted your 2020 interest to sponsor form) to find out if you’ve been invited to apply.

  • If the tool says you’ve been invited but you didn’t get an invitation
    • Check your junk mail or spam folder to make sure you didn’t miss the email.
    • If we couldn’t send you the invitation by email, we sent it by mail to the mailing address you put on your 2020 interest to sponsor form. Check your physical mailbox.

If you still can’t find your invitation, you’ll be able to use the “Find your lost confirmation number” page to ask for a copy. We’ll also post a link to this page on May 31, 2024.

  • If your email address has changed or you’ve lost your confirmation number

You’ll be able to use the “Find your lost confirmation number” page to

    • get your confirmation number
    • get a copy of your invitation to apply, if you’ve been invited
    • tell us your new email address if you’ve changed it

We’ll post a link to this page on May 31, 2024.

If you aren’t invited to apply

If you’d like your parents and grandparents to come to Canada, they may be eligible to apply for a super visa, which lets them stay in Canada for 5 years at a time.

Parents and grandparents visiting on a super visa can also apply for 2-year extensions to their stay while they’re still in Canada.
